From the Ashes of Newerth, We Shall Rise Again

War has reigned this land for centuries. First man fought against man and their suffering was like a call to which we answered. The following events lead to the destruction of mankind, or what they called "The Apocalypse of Evil". Our hunger drew us away to other planes thinking the entire humankind was devoured during the carnage. After purifying countless worlds from life and leaving nothing but dust and smoke behind, we returned to Hell. In order to save our energies we fell into a trance which let our minds travel free from the chains of our body. In time, our material forms grew weaker from lack of feeding. After hundreds of thousands of years most demons of sovereign lost their material forms and became wraiths that haunt the lands. We had no need for bodies since we had filled our purpose.

However, one of our long forgotten lands started to prosper. Humankind was not slain and with the aid of the new leader they planned to repopulate their barren land. We were unaware of all this until the sounds of battle and slaughter shook the very earth once more. In our weakened state we could only affect the minds of those who were also weak and easily influenced. And fortunate for us, we found one to be the leader of Legion of Man. Concealed in the shadows; we were the ones pulling the strings that lead to the downfall of both factions. Blinded by their hatred, they could not see the awakening.

Every town burned, every forest desecrated and every warrior slain, has been but an act of hatred from which we have fed upon. Now we are ready to gain form once more. Shadows melding into flesh, which fire surrounds and cold metal protects. We were made from one thought, made for one purpose.

Once again this world must be purged, this time for eternity...
